Overview
Intuendi can connect to the AI assistant you already use — such as Claude or ChatGPT — so you can ask questions about your own supply chain data in plain language. Once connected, your assistant can read your Intuendi catalog, inventory status, forecasts, suppliers and order suggestions, and (if your account allows it) make some updates for you, without you leaving the assistant.
This connection uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants talk to external tools. You add Intuendi as a connector once, sign in with your normal Intuendi credentials, and your assistant gains a set of Intuendi tools it can use on your behalf.
Note: this is different from Symphonie, Intuendi's built-in AI assistant that lives inside the app. With Symphonie you chat inside Intuendi; with the MCP connector you bring your Intuendi data into your own external assistant. The two can be used independently.
Requirements
Before you can connect, make sure that:
- The MCP integration is enabled for your organization. This is switched on by Intuendi — if you are not sure, contact your Intuendi administrator or our support team.
- Your user account has MCP access. Your administrator decides whether you can read data only, or read and update it.
- You are using an AI assistant that supports custom MCP connectors (for example Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code). Availability of this feature can depend on your assistant's own plan.
Note: if your assistant connects but shows no Intuendi tools, the most common cause is that the feature or your personal access has not been enabled yet. See Troubleshooting below.
How the connection works
Connecting follows the same three steps in every assistant. The exact menu names differ from one assistant to another, but the idea is always the same.
- Add Intuendi as a custom connector in your assistant, using the Intuendi connection address (URL) below.
- Sign in to Intuendi in the window that opens, with the same email and password you use for the app.
- Approve access on the confirmation screen. Your assistant is now connected.
The Intuendi connection address
Use this URL wherever your assistant asks for a custom connector or MCP server address:
https://app.intuendi.com/mcp
Tip: you never copy or paste an API key. Signing in happens in a secure Intuendi login window, exactly like logging into the app — and you can disconnect at any time from your assistant's connector settings.
Connect Claude
In Claude (Claude desktop app or claude.ai):
- Open your Settings > Connectors > Customize.
- Click on + button in Connectors panel. Select Add custom connector.
- Give it a name (for example Intuendi) and paste the Intuendi connection address: https://app.intuendi.com/mcp.
- Click Add. Claude opens an Intuendi sign-in window — log in and approve access.
- Intuendi now appears in Claude's list of connectors. Start a chat and ask about your data.
Connect ChatGPT
In ChatGPT:
- Open Settings > Connectors (custom connectors may need to be enabled for your workspace or plan).
- Choose to add a new connector and paste the Intuendi connection address: https://app.intuendi.com/mcp.
- Complete the Intuendi sign-in and approve access.
- In a chat, enable the Intuendi connector and ask your question.
Connect Cursor, VS Code, or another MCP client
Any assistant or tool that supports MCP connectors can connect to Intuendi the same way. In your client's MCP or integrations settings, add a new server and point it at the Intuendi connection address:
https://app.intuendi.com/mcp
The first time the connector is used, a browser window opens for you to sign in to Intuendi and approve access. After that, the connection is remembered.
What you can do once connected
After connecting, your assistant can answer questions and run actions using your Intuendi data. Everything is scoped to your organization and your own account — your assistant only sees what you would see in the app.
Ask about your data
You can ask questions in plain language, for example:
- "Which products are risking out-of-stock?"
- "Show the forecast for product X over the next three months."
- "List my suggested purchase orders for supplier Y."
Tip: you do not need to know the name of any tool. Describe what you want in your own words and the assistant finds and uses the right Intuendi tool for you.
Read access versus update access
What your assistant can do depends on the access your administrator granted you:
- Read access lets the assistant look up and report on your data (catalog, inventory, forecasts, orders, suppliers).
- Update access additionally lets the assistant change certain settings and values on your behalf, when you ask it to.
If you only have read access, update actions simply will not be available — your assistant will not offer them.
Warning: when you have update access, the assistant works on your live data. Always review what it proposes before confirming an action that changes your settings or orders.
Available tools
Behind the scenes, your assistant works through a set of Intuendi tools — each one able to read, or in some cases update, a specific part of your supply chain data. You never call these tools directly or need to remember their names: you describe what you want in plain language and the assistant picks the right one. The table below summarizes the areas your assistant can work with once connected.
| Area | What your assistant can do | Access |
| Products & catalog | Look up products, categories, regions, product–region associations and bills of materials, and update product, location and region attributes. | Read & update |
| Inventory status | Check current inventory status and stock coverage for each product and location. | Read |
| Suppliers & ordering parameters | Review suppliers, product–supplier links, supplier lead and delivery times, minimum order quantities, packing and other ordering parameters, and update them. | Read & update |
| Purchase, transfer & production orders | List existing and suggested purchase, transfer and production orders, down to their individual order lines. | Read |
| Forecasts | Review demand forecasts and past forecast runs for your products. | Read |
| Analytics | Aggregate sales, inventory, forecast and order figures using your own filters, groupings and time ranges. | Read |
| Organization settings | Review and update your general, catalog, forecast, inventory, automation and export settings. | Read & update |
| Data sources | List your connected data sources and review how their fields map into Intuendi. | Read |
Your assistant also has a few helper tools that let it ground its answers in your organization's context — for example your currency, planning frequency and reporting periods — and find the most relevant tool for each question you ask.
Note: whether the update actions above are available depends on your access level (see Read access versus update access). With read-only access, the update tools are hidden from your assistant entirely, so it can look up your data but never change it.
Security and privacy
The MCP connector is designed so your assistant can work with your Intuendi data without weakening the security you already rely on in the app. The key points are below.
You sign in with your own Intuendi account
Connecting uses the same secure sign-in as the app. When you add the connector, a standard Intuendi login window opens in your browser and you log in and approve access there. No API key or password is ever pasted into your assistant or shared with the AI. Your assistant only receives a limited access token issued by Intuendi, which you can revoke at any time.
Your data stays scoped to you
Once connected, your assistant sees exactly what you would see in the app — no more. Access is tied to the account you signed in with: Intuendi works out your organization from your sign-in, not from anything the assistant sends, so your assistant can only ever reach your own organization's data. Neither you nor your assistant can reach another organization's data.
Read and update permissions are enforced by Intuendi
Your read-only or update access is enforced on Intuendi's side, not left up to the assistant. If your account is read-only, the update tools are never offered to your assistant in the first place, so it cannot change anything even if you ask it to. Update tools become available only for accounts your administrator has explicitly granted update access.
Answers come from your real data
Every answer your assistant gives about Intuendi is built from a live lookup of your actual data — the assistant is not inventing figures. Bear in mind that an assistant can still misread or misinterpret what it retrieves, so always review important numbers in Intuendi before acting on them.
What your AI assistant provider can see
Your questions, and the Intuendi data returned to answer them, are processed by the AI assistant you chose (for example Anthropic's Claude or OpenAI's ChatGPT) under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Intuendi does not control how your assistant provider handles this content, so please follow your organization's own policies on what may be shared with external AI tools.
Staying in control
You can disconnect Intuendi from your assistant's connector settings at any time. Administrators can also turn MCP off for the whole organization, or remove an individual user's MCP access — either change takes effect on your assistant's next request, without waiting for anything to expire.
Tip: to fully reset the connection, remove the Intuendi connector from your assistant and add it again — you will be asked to sign in and approve access from scratch.
Troubleshooting
The assistant connected but shows no Intuendi tools
This almost always means the MCP integration is not enabled for your organization yet, or your user does not have MCP access. Ask your Intuendi administrator or our support team to confirm both.
Sign-in fails or access is refused
Make sure you are signing in with the same Intuendi account you use for the app, and that your account is active. If your organization has not been enabled for MCP, sign-in will be refused — contact support.
Update actions are missing
If the assistant can read your data but cannot change anything, your account has read-only access. Ask your administrator to grant update access if you need it.
I want to disconnect
Remove the Intuendi connector from your assistant's connector or integrations settings. You can reconnect at any time by repeating the steps above.
